2023-2024

Contribute to local arts, in terms of number of annual public performances of university choirs, theatre groups, orchestras etc… either ad-hoc or as part of an ongoing programme.

Demonstrating its commitment to enriching local arts and cultural life, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Smart Village organized a significant artistic event. Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, and with the presence of deans and faculty, the 'Spotlight' student theatre group, supervised by the Deanship of Student Affairs, staged a public theatrical and singing show entitled 'We Are Coming Back.'

This performance, held on May 11, 2024, at the Academy’s headquarters, contributed directly to the 'number of annual public performances of university theatre groups' indicator. Beyond its artistic merit, the show conveyed a powerful message of solidarity with the Palestinian people, reflecting the national and Arab awareness of the students, and showcasing how university-led arts programs can foster both cultural expression and social consciousness within the community

This public performance, attended by His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, along with the Governor of Matrouh and numerous other dignitaries, faculty, and students, represents a direct contribution to the 'number of annual public performances of university choirs' indicator under SDG 11, enriching the cultural fabric of the New Alamein city."

Contribution to Local Arts and Cultural Exchange: The "Music Unites Us" Public Concert (2024)

As part of its mandate to enrich the local cultural landscape, AASTMT leverages its performing arts infrastructure to host and organize public artistic events. A prime example of this commitment was the 'Music Unites Us' concert, held in May 2024 at the AASTMT Theater.

This high-profile event featured a collaborative performance between the renowned international ensemble 'The Beatbox House' (USA) and the prominent local Egyptian band 'Sharmoofers.' By opening the university theater to the general public for this performance, AASTMT succeeded in:

  1. Promoting Local Arts: Providing a platform for local musicians to perform alongside international talent.
  2. Enhancing Cultural Access: Granting the local community direct access to diverse musical genres and cross-cultural artistic dialogues within the university campus.
  3. Fostering Community Engagement: Transforming the university campus into a vibrant hub for social and artistic interaction for the city of Alexandria."
