A Summer of Global Excellence students’ mental health
The College of Medicine at AAST celebrated a summer of global engagement, medical innovation, and community health impact. Students participated in international workshops, including a Mental Health Essentials Workshop hosted by UMF Iuliu Hațieganu University in Romania, reinforcing the importance of psychological well-being and holistic healthcare. Other workshops focused on biomedical advancements and migration health, fostering a culture of knowledge exchange and professional growth.
Hands-on clinical training in leading hospitals across Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the USA strengthened their expertise in cardio-thoracic surgery, research, and patient care. Locally, involvement in the “100 Days of Health” campaign and medical conferences highlighted their commitment to public health awareness and preventive medicine.
Beyond medicine, sustainability-focused events like Miss Eco-Teen Elegant Egypt showcased creativity and advocacy for environmental health. These achievements reflect AAST’s vision of preparing globally competent physicians who embrace innovation, collaboration, and social responsibility.

World Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Campaign
On 27th of September 2023, a campaign educating students on suicide prevention, early warning signs, and peer support was launched. It emphasized the importance of mental health literacy and community-based interventions

Caring for Your Mental Health Workshop
As part of our constant desire to raise the awareness of students and preserve their mental health, the Student Support Section, in cooperation with Support Club , organized a workshop entitled Take Care of Your Mental Health on World Mental Health Day, under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs, Alamein branch. Many students participated after the end of their educational day and discussed many topics related to mental health on Tuesday 10 /10/2023

Mental health support is provided through the students’ affairs deanery in the form of behavioral and cognitive therapy and family counseling by specialists. The clinics also offer more specialized therapy according to the case. Throughout the past year, highly qualified specialists have helped students all over AASTMT campuses to overcome emotional and mental complications. Different events have been organized to spread awareness and education of how to keep good mental health.

The Deanship of Student Affairs organized a dedicated lecture for students titled Self-Confidence Skills and Effective Communication. This engaging session was presented by Dr. Reda Suleiman, who emphasized the significance of self-confidence as one of the essential skills that can be acquired and learned.
During the lecture, Dr. Reda Suleiman discussed various aspects of self-confidence, including its role in personal development and success. He provided practical tips and strategies for students to enhance their self-esteem and improve their communication skills, which are crucial for both academic and professional success.

Individuals suffering from suicidal thoughts often show warning signs that can be easily missed. By knowing what to look for and being direct with our concerns, we can help start conversations, encourage positive behavior change, and emphasize the importance of seeking help.
