Program Description

The Department of Marketing at AASTMT delivers programmes and courses that focus on satisfying customer needs through product and service development and planning, pricing, advertising, promotion, and distribution. Our courses offer a variety of innovative modules where you’ll have the opportunity to study both the latest academic research and industry trends in this dynamic field. You’ll gain an overall view of marketing and explore psychological elements such as consumer behaviour, with the chance to develop your creative skills. Not only that, but you’ll also explore marketing analytics, marketing in the digital environment and market research, as well as addressing important areas such as marketing strategy.

Learning Outcomes

  • Upon completion of the Marketing major, students will have learned how to: 1. Develop marketing strategies based on key consumer dimensions including buying behaviours and existing customer attitudes. 2. Understand how to properly conduct marketing research. 3. Develop promotional strategy skills, including product/service and customer analysis and interactive personal selling skills in a simulated selling situation. 4. Develop an appreciation and understanding for marketing in different cultures and countries. 5. Develop career path interests and key transferable skills that are essential to a career in marketing.

Brief

The Marketing Major Bachelor’s Degree at AASTMT is completed in a timeframe of four academic years, which include eight semesters in total. During the first three semesters, students will take the core subjects. Some of the core subjects available at the College of Management and Technology include; Principles of Management, Maths, Introduction to Information systems, Micro and Macroeconomics, and many more valuable courses. In total, there are 24 core courses that a student will have completed by the end of the four years. Starting from the fourth semester, marketing students will begin to take the major courses. Some of the major courses include; Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Research, and many more. In total, the Marketing Department at AASTMT offers 23 Major courses, 18 of the major courses must be completed by the end of the four years to be declared a marketing major. The Marketing Department also offers a wide range of stimulating elective courses, by the end of the four years, students must have completed six elective courses. There are three main assessments during the semester. The first assessment is during the seventh week of the academic term, the second is during the twelfth week, and the final assessment is during the sixteenth week. Some courses will require examinations at the college premises, while others will require presentations..
