Introduction

AASTMT adopts a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to all investment decisions, ensuring alignment with national priorities and global sustainability frameworks. The policy strengthens AASTMT’s commitment by integrating environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and ethical governance across all financial actions. This policy reinforces AASTMT’s role in driving responsible development by supporting initiatives that create long-term economic, social, and environmental values. AASTMT’s Sustainable Investment Policy includes the following commitments:

 

1. Sustainability-Focused Investment Approach: AASTMT aligns its investment strategy with institutional sustainability goals. A substantial portion of investments is directed toward projects that promote resource efficiency, environmental protection, climate resilience, social equity, and innovation—ensuring a balance between economic growth and sustainable development.

2. Investment in Renewable and Clean Energy: Recognizing the urgent need to address climate change and reduce carbon emissions, AASTMT prioritizes investments in renewable and clean energy technologies such as solar, wind, hydro, and emerging green technologies. These investments support a transition toward low-carbon, energy-efficient infrastructure across campuses and partner institutions.

3. Support for Sustainable and Responsible Enterprises: AASTMT supports enterprises, including startups, SMEs, and industry partners that demonstrate strong environmental stewardship, social responsibility and inclusiveness, sound corporate governance, and commitment to innovation and sustainability. Enterprises with negative environmental or social impacts are excluded from investment considerations.

4. Global Health and Social Well-Being Initiatives: AASTMT invests in initiatives that advance public health, medical research, healthcare quality, and digital health solutions. These investments contribute to strengthening resilient health systems, enhancing community well-being, and supporting scientific innovation aligned with global priorities.

5. Green Buildings and Sustainable Infrastructure: AASTMT prioritizes investments in energy-efficient buildings, sustainable campus infrastructure, smart water and waste systems, environmentally responsible construction practices. These investments ensure that new and existing facilities meet international standards for sustainability and contribute to healthier learning and working environments.

 

Transparency and Accountability

AASTMT upholds the highest levels of transparency and accountability in all investment practices. This policy is publicly available on official platforms to ensure clarity and institutional integrity. AASTMT acknowledges that investment decisions can influence national and regional sustainability priorities and commits to using this influence responsibly. AASTMT welcomes feedback from stakeholders—including students, faculty, staff, and partners—as collective participation is essential to advancing sustainable development.

 

Policy Statements

  1. AASTMT adopts a long-term investment approach that fully incorporates environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance considerations into all financial decisions.
  2. In line with the Institutional Procurement Policy, AASTMT prioritizes investments that reduce environmental impact, promote efficient use of resources, support circular economy practices, and contribute to building a more sustainable institutional ecosystem.
  3. AASTMT evaluates both positive and negative impacts of all enterprises before investment. Projects that pose risk to society or the environment are excluded, while those demonstrating transparency, responsible practices, and ethical governance are favored.
  4. AASTMT communicates its commitment to sustainable and responsible investment managers and encourages them to engage with company leadership to promote sustainability, responsible governance, and continuous improvement within enterprises.
  5. AASTMT conducts continuous assessments of assets, investment value, and resource utilization to ensure alignment with long-term sustainability goals and to maintain accountability toward all stakeholders.
