Goal 16. Peace and Justice Strong Institutions
1- Policy Purpose
This policy shows how AASTMT supports students through allowing them to form different and diverse student unions.
2- Policy Statement
Student unions are formed under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs. By conducting fair elections between students in different colleges.
These student unions allow students to improve communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills by organizing and carrying out AASTMTs’ activities and service projects.
It represents the voice of the students and periodically attends meetings with senior administration to deliver student ideas, interests and concerns to develop the student community at the University. Also, AASTMTT President on a regular basis, conducts formal meetings with student unions to hear their recommendations.

4- Policy Description
AASTMT has set the General rules and conditions for candidacy for college student council elections which are published on the AASTMT website. Students who wish to nominate themselves for the elections are welcomed from the Deanship. Deanship reviews the applicants and then the electronic elections and voting start. After the ending of the voting, the Deanship takes the highest voted nominee becomes the Student Union President and the second highest votes becomes the Vice President and the rest of nominees become members.
Student unions in ASSTMT can prepare their events and they can participate in different events within the Academy.
5- Student Union Objectives:
-Contribute to the development of a well-rounded student personality and foster positive interaction between the students, faculty members, employees, and the university administration.
-Support and advance the academic process through presenting workshops, lectures and other tools.
-Coordinate with different elected student unions in other Egyptian universities.
-Focus on student issues, follow up on them, and work towards resolving their problems in collaboration with AASTMT administration.
-Support and enhance cultural, scientific, social, athletic, and student activities, improving their effectiveness and impact.
-Foster a democratic atmosphere for effective dialogue between students and respect for diverse opinions.
-Engage constructively with the local community and social activities, including both official and unofficial institutions.
