    2023-2024

    AASTMT continues to engage with governmental bodies through a combination of research, consultancy, and knowledge-sharing initiatives through:

    • Direct consultation: AASTMT experts serve on consultative committees for maritime security and advise government agencies on policy implementation.
    • Collaborative research grants: The academy funds and facilitates collaborative projects with government agencies through its grant programs.
    • Workshops and forums: AASTMT host events that directly involve government officials and representatives to facilitate collaboration and policy development.

    AASTMT- ARST MOU

    AASTMT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) through the center of entrepreneurship that will support technological projects for ARST. Also, this MOU supports AASTMT’s community engagement activities through supporting some of these projects.  This MOU aims to enhance cooperation and support entrepreneurs and technological projects, specifically through AASTMT's entities and ASRT's programs.

    AASTMT AND ARAB BANKING CONFERENCE

    The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) President participated in the Arab International Banking Summit 2024, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey, from May 23 to 24, 2024. The Arab Banking Conference 2024 celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Union of Arab Banks and brought together economic leaders from the Arab world. The Commercial Bank of Qatar participated as an innovation partner under the patronage of the Qatar Central Bank Governor.

    Workshop on Waste Management at AASTMT

    In cooperation with Nahdet Misr Company AASTMT organized workshop for waste management it shows how AASTMT supports its community involvement and participation by supporting the national company in sustainable waste management and environmental preservation and best practices in waste management.

    AASTMT President at the Egyptian Council of State

    The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) interacts with the Egyptian Council of State through official visits and cooperation, as seen in AASTMT's President's visit in 2023 to discuss human rights, enhancing cooperation with the Council's President and in training of AASTMTs’ of Law students at the Council in the same year.

    AASTMT and industrial modernization center delegation

    In May 2024, a delegation from the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC) of Egypt met with the president and officials of AASTMT to discuss strengthening their collaboration and collaborative decisions. The delegation was led by IMC Executive Director Doaa Selima.

    Project: Application of renewable energy technologies for green ports: Egyptian ports as a case study

    The project “Application of renewable energy technologies for green ports: Egyptian ports as a case study” in which AASTMT supports the Egyptian ports which reflects how AASTMT always supports the Egyptian Government.

    PRIMA Annual Work Plan AWP for 2024

    AASTMT hosted an awareness Info-day concerning the newly released PRIMA AWP for 2024. The event was designed to provide detailed information to researchers and potential applicants at AASTMT about PRIMA's upcoming calls for proposals to guarantee fair application for all. This included topics for research, rules for participation and involvement, and allocated budget information. PRIMA is a European Union-funded program that supports research and innovation in the Mediterranean area. It focuses on fields like water management, farming systems, agri-food value chains, and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus.

    AASTMT Urban Planning Innovations Take Center Stage at WUF12

    AASTMT made significant strides in the field of urban planning at the recent World Urban Forum 12 (WUF12). Associate Professor Nancy Abdel-Moniem was a key contributor, serving as a panelist in the session "My Neighborhood: From Global Policies to Urban Design Interventions." She shared insights on integrating the "My Neighborhood" framework into undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In addition to this academic contribution, AASTMT faculty and students actively participated in various sessions and workshops, showcasing innovative approaches to addressing urban challenges. The game, developed in collaboration with students, was a highlight of the institution's participation. This interactive tool for participants engagment in discussions on climate-resilient and livable cities, fostering critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.

    New Egypt Group MOU

    AASTMT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Egypt Group at its Alamein Campus. This agreement strengthens collaborative tools in educational partnerships, student exchange programs with American universities, and participation in the group's charitable activities, with the Governor of Matrouh in attendance.

    AASTMT Participation in UniGreen conference “Shaping the Sustainable Future 2024”

    The academy participated in the UniGreen conference, "Shaping a Sustainable Future 2024," held in November. Aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030, this initiative works with government ministries to increase youth engagement in mitigating climate change. AASTMT also continued its pivotal work in improving solid waste management systems, a multi-year partnership with the Egyptian government.

    Opening Ceremony of ISPRS 2023 Geospatial week (Egypt GSW 2023)

     As keeping on the hosting of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) first Geospatial Week (GSW) in Africa and Middle East (Egypt GSW`2023) that is held under the auspices of H.E. Secretary General of the League of Arab States, and with the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister of Egypt.

    2022-2023

    AASTMT always is keen on participating in different governmental researches to help in developing and improving in Egypt. Some of these researches such as:

    • Researches with the Maritime Sector with the Maritime Security Institute (RMSI)
    • Research in dealing with Solid waste Management
    • Analyzing the Real Situation of the Arab Ports and harbors with the participation of all Arab countries

    Regional Maritime Security Institute (RMSI)

    It has effective participation in the Main Committees for Maritime Security in the Maritime Transport Sector. Also, it plays an important role in consultation and participating in Maritime Governmental research. Also, the Participation in various security review committees for consultative operations in ports, port facilities and ships.

    Project Name: 8 Modeling and Control of a 6-DOF Robotic Manipulator for Table Tennis (ITIDA)

    This project aims to enhance the understanding of robotic control systems while providing a practical application in sports. By focusing on a specific task like table tennis, the project seeks to demonstrate the potential of robotics in recreational and competitive settings.

    AASTMT Vitally Contributes to Egypt’s Implementation Roadmap on Solid Waste Management

    Solid Waste Management systems are a vital policy regionally and on a global level. The AASTMT has had a pivotal role in influencing the policy and implementing roadmap towards improving the systems of solid waste management in Egypt. Over the last 4 years AASTMT has partnered with the Egyptian Government and it plays an important participatory research body in embracing and innovating a new and effective solid waste management system.

    AASTMT Workshop on "Analyzing the Real Situation of the Arab Ports and harbors with the participation of all Arab countries.

    AASTMT conducted the workshop to analyze the current state of ports and harbors in Arab countries. This program aims to promote collaboration among Arab states, with a focus on the Egyptian government's engagement. The workshop provides an excellent opportunity for Arab nations to work together to solve the challenges and opportunities confronting their ports and harbors. Through active involvement and knowledge sharing, the workshop aims to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of Arab maritime transport.

    Chairman of the Board of the Directories of the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) at Abu-Qir Campus

    AASTMT president hosted the president of the National Port and Shipping Authority (NPPA) recently in Abu-Qir. This visit enhances collaboration and sharing experiences as AASTMT supports the research in the NPPA.

    AAST collaboration with Urban Development Fund

    AAST signed MoU with Urban Development Fund February 2023, The Urban Development Fund focuses on projects in Egypt’s capital cities and governorates, aiming to protect areas with unique characteristics. Both sides agree on Knowledge exchange in the field of urban development in the way to support modern urban and sustainable development. The educational delivery process will be enriched with further practical skills through training,workshops, projects participation and further research in SDG

    2021-2022

    Project: Towards an Integrated Egyptian Maritime Transport Sector: Horizontal and Vertical Integration of Egyptian Commercial Ports

    The expected result of this project is a strategic plan for the Egyptian maritime transport sector utilizing the concepts of horizontal and vertical integration under the envisioned context of PDM. Special attention will be given to the national container companies operating under the supervision of the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT), affiliated with the Egyptian government. The findings will then be scaled to tackle the congestion problem at the port level.

    As a case study, this project researches the possibility of changing Egyptian Ports over to be an eco- friendly port with the emphasis on technical, logistic, and financial prerequisites.

    NTRA Signs Cooperation Protocols with AASTMT

    The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA) has signed today cooperation protocols with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) to exchange expertise and training programs, as well as improve research and development aspects.
