 AASTMT Stakeholders Engagement Policy

1-Purpose

This policy provides guidelines for AASTMT stakeholders’ engagement and communication. It ensures that AASTMT safeguards that stakeholder engagement activities are transparent, systematic, and effective.

2-Scope

The policy applies to all AASTMT activities with stakeholders including its employees and staff who are undertaking stakeholders’ engagement activities.

3-Policy Statement

AASTMT recognizes that stakeholders’ engagement is essential to support the achievement of its strategic goals and that different levels of engagement are required for different efforts.

4- Policy Principles

Stakeholders Engagement activities in AASTMT have the following principles

-Transparency: ensure transparency in relationships, sharing truthful, sufficient, relevant, complete and useful information.

-Participation and engagement: encourage the participation and engagement of the Stakeholders in all of the AASTMT activities.

-Effective Communication: Activities should be communicated clearly with stakeholders.

-Active listening: practice active listening, encouraging bi-directional and effective communication.

-Consensus: work towards consensus with the Stakeholders, especially with local communities and indigenous populations, taking their viewpoints and expectations into consideration.

-Stakeholder Feedback: and their feedback should be taken into consideration and followed up in a timely manner.

-Analysis and Follow-up: Any Information derived from the engagement process should be open and honest, including results from evaluation activities and surveys. Regular analysis to understand stakeholders' main interests, concerns, and expectations

- Continuous improvement: seek continuous improvement, regularly reviewing Stakeholder engagement mechanisms to ensure that they respond in the most efficient way possible to the needs of each moment.

 5-Policy Procedure

AASTMT follows the stakeholder engagement model.

5-1 Stakeholders Identification

AASTMT has the following stakeholders:

• Undergraduate Students, postgraduate students, Prospective Students, Alumni
• Academic and Administrative Staff
• Government and Private Agencies
• General Public, Local Community, Press and Media
  
  5-2 Stakeholders Mapping
  
  AASTMT will develop a plan to engage with each group of stakeholders in an effective and efficient way. This mapping process is highly important because AASTMT will identify the most important stakeholders and those who have strong positive or negative effects on AASTMT Activities. So, AASTMT will make the best use of its resources by not over-communicating with groups that do not require the same level of attention as the high-interest and high-influence group.
  
  5-3 Stakeholders Communication
  
  Staff who are involved in stakeholders’ engagement shall plan the communications with stakeholders to guarantee the flow of clear and relevant information to stakeholders and to keep stakeholders’ engagement process effective and supportive. Thus, AASTMT uses different methods for communication with stakeholders such as Surveys, electronic surveys, satisfaction surveys, etc. Also, stakeholders' feedback is so important for AASTMT's future and activities.
  
  5-4 Stakeholders Engagement Activities
  
  AASTMT determines the appropriate engagement activities required, and the level of engagement should be defined by the objective, outcomes, timeframes, resources, and levels of the stakeholder’s importance.
  
  5-5 Action Plan and Continual Improvement
  
  Staff involved in stakeholders’ engagement should identify opportunities from feedback and determine actions, revisit goals, and plan the next steps for follow-up the future of stakeholders’ engagement.

AASTMT always focuses on its’ stakeholders. Investing in meaningful engagement provides numerous benefits for AASTMT. AASTMT Local Government by different tools builds trust and stronger relationships with its’ stakeholders, reduces risks and mitigates issues and enhances accountability, transparency and supporting AASTMT government for better decision making, next section clarifies how AASTMT engage its stakeholders effectively.

AASTMT new co-operational agreements in different tracks

AASTMT President signed 8 new agreements with different industrial companies in different fields such as petrochemicals industry, petroleum industry and information technology and AI industry. These agreements have different programs to be implemented in AASTMT

AASTMT-Northern Consortium UK (NCUK) of universities cooperation

AASTMT) and the Northern Consortium UK (NCUK) have an official cooperation to offer students an international education pathway. This partnership, established in May 2023, has made AASTMT's International Study Center (AAISC) the first NCUK-accredited center in Egypt. This cooperation is backed by high-level engagement between the two institutions to set new strategies between both of them. The agreement was officially signed by the President of AASTMT.

AASTMT colleges have different Advisory Boards in which different stakeholders and organization participate in it to increase the stakeholder’s engagement, stakeholder’s involvement and public involvement.

AASTMT- BRIGHTSKIES Cooperation

The "AASTMT BRIGHTSKIES" refers to a partnership agreement between the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and the company Brightskies. This collaboration focuses on creating a hands-on learning facility for autonomous vehicle and self-driving technology for students to ensure the concept of teaching freedom within AASTMT, which includes building an outdoor lab and autonomous vehicle for practical application in AASTMT's Smart Village campus.

AASTMT-Caritas Egypt Agreement

In April 2024, AASTMT signed a cooperation protocol with Caritas Egypt. The participative agreement coordinates efforts in areas of mutual interest to support the NGO's wide-ranging humanitarian and social development activities.

AASTMT and Afro- Asian Union for sustainable development Agreement

AAST signed MoU with Strategic women and youth institute, the agreement state to have joint programs that support suitable development, male and female equality in leadership. The collaboration extended to include Seminars, workshops and case studies. For the next year of such collaboration, AAST maintains sustainable activities with Strategic women and youth to support its roadmap to achieve SDGs.

AASTMT participation in the International Workshop Green Environment and Green Tourism

Green Environment and Green Tourism" workshop in June 2024, AASTMT partnered with several other Egyptian universities. The workshop, which was also a collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, balances the discussion of the role of green tourism in promoting sustainability and protecting the environment and presenting the tools needed for this new concept in tourism.

Tech innovation Round 3

The college of commuting welcomed several school students, university students, parents and teachers participating in the challenge this year, with a total of 90 teams and 380 students. This challenge Is clear example of AASTMT stakeholder’s engagement, the challenge hosted several schools such as:
STEM Schools, El Alsson School, Modern Education School, American Language School.  As well as several universities, like Zigzag University, Higher Technological Institute, and, Alexandria University.
The projects targeted problems in Public health, agriculture, education, environment and more.
20 teams from schools, in two tracks, and 8 from universities were qualified to enter the final round and present in front of our jury members.

 World Cities Day

AASTMT's public participation in the "World Cities Day 2024" celebration, which included youth, adolescents and various societal groups to enhance and increase community involvement, was aimed at raising awareness about sustainable urban development and providing practical solutions for urban problems.

Nations Struggle Day

The "Nations' Struggle" day was an event held at the College of Language and Communication in Alexandria on December 27, 2023, in solidarity with Palestine. Students used storytelling to portray the struggles of different nations: South Korea, India, Mexico, Spain, Egypt, and Palestine. The goal was to showcase suffering during times of war and colonization. To express solidarity with the crisis in Palestine and to showcase cultural elements from the six represented countries.

AASTMT and ESCWA Join Forces to Empower Arab Youth and Bridge Skills Gaps

AASTMT and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) are collaborating on initiatives aimed at empowering Arab youth, enhancing their skills, and bridging existing skills gaps in the labor market. This partnership leverages both organizations' expertise to address high youth unemployment and prepare young people for the demands of a sustainable future workplace, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and sustainable development goals.
