Goal 10. Reduced Inequality
AASTMT's recruitment strategies for underrepresented groups include several key initiatives designed to enhance diversity and inclusion. These initiatives involve outreach and awareness programs to engage potential applicants, partnerships with community organizations to strengthen connections, and efforts to diversify the applicant pool by actively seeking a broader range of candidates. The admissions process is designed to be inclusive, ensuring equitable criteria and procedures for all applicants.
Institutional Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) demonstrate a strong institutional commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equal opportunity by fostering a learning environment that embraces diversity and combats discrimination. The Academy hosts students from more than 37 nationalities, actively promoting social integration and cultural exchange, while ensuring that under-represented groups—including international and migrant students—have equitable access to higher education. Accessibility and Support for Students with Disabilities
AASTMT has established the Accessibility Center as a specialized structure to support students with disabilities through inclusive education, equitable access, and assistive technologies. This initiative reflects the Academy’s ongoing efforts to reduce health inequities, address social disparities, and ensure the social inclusion of students from disadvantaged groups. By removing structural and educational barriers, AASTMT enables students with disabilities to participate fully in academic life, contributing to greater equity and social mobility.

In alignment with its long-standing commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equal opportunity, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport continue to embed its equality policies and inclusive practices across all its campuses, including its newest campus in El Alamein. The establishment of accessible student services, a comprehensive Student Conduct Code, and structured support systems for students with disabilities reflect the Academy’s proactive approach to eliminating discrimination and ensuring full participation in academic and social life. These measures include equitable access to facilities, transparent reporting and referral mechanisms, and collaboration between faculty, student affairs, and accessibility services to address structural inequities.

Bridge of Hope Initiative
Through its “Bridge of Hope” partnership with UNHCR Egypt, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) continues to provide targeted scholarships and financial aid to refugee and displaced students from low-income and underrepresented countries, reflecting its strong commitment to social inclusion, migration equity, and reducing inequalities. This initiative ensures that refugee youth—among the most marginalized groups—gain equitable access to higher education through comprehensive institutional support that addresses barriers of economic disparity, migration status, and social stratification. By facilitating their integration into academic life, AASTMT enhances social mobility, promotes health and education equity, and demonstrates leadership in inclusive development and global engagement. The Bridge of Hope scholarships directly contribute to SDG 10.6.3 by increasing the proportion of international students from developing contexts who benefit from structured support and sustainable educational opportunities.
