STEM Initiative for SDGs
Date: November 18, 2023
The College of Engineering at AASTMT organized a free STEM School Workshop aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among school students. The workshop included hands-on engineering activities, interactive sessions, and practical demonstrations designed to inspire interest in STEM fields. Participants explored real-world engineering applications supporting sustainability and innovation. The event concluded with the awarding of participation certificates to all attendees. The event had more than 35 participants.
WebWave Workshop
Date: March 12, 2024
The WebWave Workshop is a free, developer-bootcamp style event organized by the IEEE AAST Alexandria Student Branch at AASTMT. It focuses on enhancing participants’ web development skills through hands-on sessions. The workshop spans multiple days, offering both front-end and back-end learning experiences. It targets students and aspiring developers aiming to build practical technical skills. Participants receive an official certificate of completion at the end of the workshop. The event had more than 50 participants.

IEEE-HKN Mu Beta (Egypt-Section) at AASTMT, Alexandria
Date: April 19- 20, 2024
The College of Engineering and Technology at AASTMT (Abu Kir Campus) hosted the Preliminary Stage of the 2024 IEEE-YESIST12 Challenge, a free international workshop and competition with over 65 attendees from various universities and institutions. The event provided participants with hands-on training, mentoring sessions, and certificates of participation upon completion. IEEE-YESIST12 is a two-tier global competition featuring five innovation tracks, offering young innovators an opportunity to showcase their projects, develop their technical and leadership skills, and connect with the global IEEE community. The event promoted creativity, collaboration, and sustainable technology-driven solutions aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Robotics from Zero to Hero

The "Robotics from Zero to Hero" is a free 4-day hands-on event organized by the IEEE AAST Alexandria Student Branch at AASTMT, with over 50 participants. It takes attendees on an exciting journey from the fundamentals of electronics and programming to the design and construction of fully functional robots. Throughout the four days, participants engage in interactive workshops, teamwork activities, and friendly competitions that spark creativity and innovation. Over five days, attendees will follow a structured roadmap to learn and apply key concepts in mobile app development. 2nd Student Scientific Conference on Gut Health – “A Mirror in Health and Disease

The College of Medicine at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in New El Alamein hosted its 2nd Annual Student Scientific Conference under the theme “Gut – A Mirror in Health and Disease.” This free event was entirely organized and presented by second-year medical students, featuring oral presentations, poster sessions, and a complete student-managed event operation that highlighted their scientific knowledge, communication, and organizational skills. A seminar with Dr. Osama Ismail in Smart Village ACPC 2023

A Free Problem-Solving Seminar was organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST) – Regional Informatics Center at the Smart Village campus, with over 50 attendees. The seminar featured Dr. Osama Ismail, who shared valuable insights into problem-solving strategies and effective approaches to competitive programming. Participants gained practical guidance and motivation to prepare for both the ACPC 2023 and the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest). Quarter Tech Talk Table Series

The Quarter Tech Talk Table Series 14.0 was a free international workshop hosted at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) – College of Engineering and Technology, Main Campus Alexandria, in collaboration with five partner organizations. This 2nd International Edition in Egypt featured the theme “Beyond the Hype: Exploring Technology’s Real Impact” and gathered over 30 participants from across Egypt for an engaging discussion on technology awareness, innovation, and career development. Organized in partnership with IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE SSIT (UAT Technical Committee), IEEE HKN Mu Beta Chapter, IEEE YP Egypt Section, and IEEE TV, the event provided diverse insights into emerging technologies. All attendees received certificates of participation, marking it as a valuable and collaborative learning experience in advancing technology-driven dialogue.
IEEE Egyptian Student Paper Contest - ESPC

The event brought together student researchers from across Egypt to present their innovative papers and compete for recognition at both the national and regional levels. The “IEEE Egyptian SPC’23 | AAST Alexandria” album on Facebook highlights memorable moments, showcasing participants, presentations, and award ceremonies. The contest celebrated academic excellence, creativity, and research innovation, with top winners advancing to the regional IEEE competition for further distinction. The AASTMT Libraries & Information Services Centre
The AASTMT boasts an impressive library network comprising 12 branches, housing a vast collection of academic resources, including over 90,000 printed books, access to more than 223,000 e-journals, and a digital library featuring 150,000 e-books. The Libraries & Information Services Center serves the AASTMT academic community in all its locations. With its 12 branch Libraries, The Library fulfills the academic and research needs of both students and teaching staff.
The Libraries & Information Services Center at AASTMT play a major role in supporting educational activities and enriching academic life. The Center serves the academics in Egypt, at Abu-Qir main campus in Alexandria, there is the Main Library, the Architecture Library, and the Maritime Library. AT Miami campus in Alexandria, there is the Management Library and the Graduate School of Business Library. At Sheraton campus in Cairo, there is the Engineering Library, the Graduate School of Business Library, and the Management & Logistics Library. At Dokki premises in Cairo, there is the Management & Logistics Library. There is one main library at Port Said Campus, at the Smart Village premises, at Wabour Elmaya premises, and at Ganoub Elwadi camps. There are libraries at Latakia - Syrian Arab Republic branch and Alamein branch.
All these libraries are interconnected through online interactive terminals, ensuring seamless access to the center's in-house database. To provide a high-quality information service, the Center has established an integrated information system that simplifies direct searches through a computerized catalog and electronic databases. In case of physical visits to the library, the outside visitors shall present an official letter from educational institutes, industrial organizations, etc., addressed to AASTMT requesting to visit a library branch where they can copy the documents, they accessed on line.
Campuses facilities
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) proudly opens its laboratory and campus facilities to the public, facilitating a diverse array of training sessions and competitions. In 2024, AASTMT hosted a series of high-impact training sessions, workshops, and competitions that welcomed over 87,000 external participants from Egypt and abroad. Notable examples include the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2024), engaging secondary school students from 90+ countries; the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC 2024), which gathered 2,500 students from 300 international teams; and the Egyptian Beaver Competition 2024, which reached 85,000 students nationwide, promoting computational thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, AASTMT provides free educational access to laboratories and research spaces for community-based learning programs such as the Robotak Initiative, which empowers youth aged 7–17 through hands-on robotics and coding workshops.

ICPC world finals - International Collegiate Programming Contest 2024
Date: April 14, 2024
Under the generous patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt is preparing to host the International Programming Championship, which will be held in Luxor from April 14 to 19, 2024 and organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in cooperation with all relevant ministries and state sectors. It is considered the largest and most important event in the field of software for university students – in the world, and it is one of the most important events organized in Egypt during the current period, as it brings together the distinguished youth of the world in the field of programming, and will witness for the first time the participation of 2,500 of the world’s youth, representing the best 300 teams that have been chosen. Among 20,000 teams competing for the championship title.
The Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth (ECPC) 2023
Date: August 30, 2023
The event was the finals of the Egyptian Programming Competition for university students, held at the headquarters of Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST) in Alexandria. It involved 7,500 participants from 96 colleges and institutes (engineering & computer departments), plus schools, over a period of two weeks, competing to sharpen their skills in software and IT — a key driver of economic development — with the aim to then establish startup companies and lead the current and future industry. The competition was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), with support from the Fund for Innovators and Geniuses at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the honour of Bill Poucher (President of the ICPC International Foundation) at the closing ceremony.
The Egypt Robotics Cup (robocup2024)

The Egypt Robotics Cup is one of the largest robotics competitions for school and university students in Egypt and in the world. The activities of Egypt's local qualifiers will be held from February 12 to 15 at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Sponsored by our partners Telecom Egypt & EG-CERT. The top place teams will qualify for the international finals in the Netherlands from July 17 to 21, 2024. Tunisia teams joining RoboCup junior Egypt 2024 and they will be participating at RoboCup Asia Pacific.
The 26th edition of the Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC) 2023

The commencement of the 26th edition of the Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC) 2023. This prestigious competition features over 150 teams representing 15 African and Arab countries include Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Ethiopia, Angola, Qatar, Algeria, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Iraq. There is also a school students' competition from five different nations, including Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Qatar, and Tunisia. With the presence of representatives from participating countries, we extend our best wishes for success to all the nations taking part in this competition. The unfolding events are taking place now in Luxor, Egypt.
The Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth (ECPC) 2024

Under the auspices of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), the Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth (ECPC) was launched in its twenty-fourth session, organized by AASTMT, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Innovators Support Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The competition is held at AASTMT AbuKir Headquarters with the participation of 3,000 teams represented by 12,000 students from 123 universities and institutes from various governorates of the Republic of Egypt Arabic to select the best 150 teams to participate in the final qualifiers.

Egypt Rally Startup Competition 2024

The Egypt Rally Startup Competition is a comprehensive fundraising program designed specifically for Egyptian startups seeking to scale their businesses. Out of more than 1,800 startup ideas submitted, 35 finalists were chosen to compete. Each finalist was allotted three minutes to present their pitch, followed by three minutes for questions and answers to persuade the judges.
Beaver Challenge

The Beaver Challenge is a global initiative designed to foster interest in informatics and computational thinking among students of all ages. Organized in over 50 countries, with approximately 3 million participants, the challenge aims to engage students in the field of computing. Each participant is allotted 45 minutes to respond to 12 questions that emphasize logical reasoning and computational skills. The Egyptian Beaver competition concluded with remarkable participation from 85,000 students across all governorates of the Republic. The prelim stage will be hosted by College of Engineering and Technology at Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport Abu Kir. The prelim will be conducted during 19-20 April 2024. The key benefit of this approach is that these resources are not limited to AASTMT students or staff; they are made accessible to the public. This means that self-learners and individuals interested in AASTMT's academic expertise can freely access and benefit from the valuable educational content presented by AASTMT's knowledgeable faculty members. This commitment to open education and knowledge-sharing aligns with AASTMT's mission to contribute to the broader educational community and promote lifelong learning. Established on March 14, 2021, and based in Egypt, the channel offers high-quality educational content in Arabic to promote lifelong learning and expand access to knowledge for learners of all ages. The Regional Informatics Center
The Regional Informatics Center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) offers online training for the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI). The EOI is a significant competition that focuses on computer algorithms, programming, and systematic problem-solving methods, covering a wide range of problem types. It primarily targets school students, serving as a platform to identify and nurture exceptional young talent in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
As part of its commitment to fostering talent and promoting computer science education, AASTMT provides a valuable online training resource for those interested in participating in the EOI. This initiative not only aids participants in their preparation for the Expression of Interest (EOI) but also aligns with the overarching objective of advancing computer science education and skill development among young students in Egypt. It exemplifies AASTMT's commitment to fostering educational excellence and offering valuable resources to the community, thereby facilitating the identification and cultivation of future leaders in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Robotak
The Robotak initiative represents a collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport. This initiative is national in scope and offers free participation. Its primary objective is to empower young individuals aged 7 to 17 by equipping them with essential 21st-century skills, including coding and robotics programming. The initiative began in early 2020, coinciding with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project employs a blend of online and offline methodologies to deliver its services. Online resources are accessible through a YouTube channel managed by an AASTMT instructor, featuring both pre-recorded and live sessions. In-person instruction is provided through immersive, all-day boot camps, each lasting four days. A total of six camps have been established in the cities of Tenth of Ramadan, Aswan, Beni Suef, El Arish, and Alexandria.
To date, the initiative has garnered over 32,600 subscribers, spanning all governorates in Egypt, as well as participation from Egyptians residing in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The project currently comprises two levels, each further divided into two parts based on participants' ages, with development underway for a third level. The overarching goal of the Robotak initiative is to teach school students programming, robotics, 21st-century skills, and artificial intelligence.

Rally Training
AASTMT offers the Rally Ideation Online Training program as a foundational support initiative for aspiring entrepreneurs. AI 1O1 Course with Certificate
AI 101, organized by the IEEE AAST Alexandria Student Branch (AAST SB), is an initiative designed to introduce and educate students on the principles and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This program is part of a broader commitment to engage students with advanced technologies and to deepen their understanding of AI, machine learning, and innovative smart solutions. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with IEEE Tunis and was held in hybrid format. The event had more than 100 participants.

Future Sustainable Technology Day and Workshop with Certificate
Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions designed to inspire innovative thinking and foster a deeper understanding of sustainable practices. The workshop aimed to equip both teachers and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address environmental challenges through technology. Attendees also participated in hands-on activities, encouraging collaborative problem-solving and creative solutions. This immersive experience is designed not only to educate but also to ignite passion and curiosity in the fields of science and technology, empowering the next generation of innovators and leaders. The event had 40 students and 3 teachers.
Python for Robotics
The Regional Informatics Center (RIC) offers a complimentary course on Rescue Simulation, structured into three levels. Each level consists of 12 hours of instruction, divided into four sessions, commencing on July 10, 2023. Level 1: Introduction to the Python Programming Language. Level 2: Object-Oriented Programming and Image Processin. Level 3: Utilizing Webots to configure, build, and program a robot to navigate a maze. This course is designed for students participating in RoboCupJunior Egypt 2024, specifically within the Rescue Simulation category. Training is conducted on-site for students located in Alexandria, while online training is available for those outside the Alexandria area.

A two-day course on the fundamentals of printed circuit boards (PCBs) was conducted on-campus at AASTMT, organized by the IEEE AAST Alex Student Branch. The course attracted over 30 participants.

Sustainable Steam Systems IEEE AAST SB
With the aim of igniting a greener future! This event provided a matchless session on sustainable steam systems, their impact on our world, and the newest technologies and advancements in the field. The event was conducted in collaboration with the AAST Electrical and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Marine and Offshore Engineering Departments. As well as, the eminent Spirax Sarco Engineering, a multi-national engineering group known for its world-leading steam systems, pumps, and fluid path equipment, to engulf participants in the world of sustainable steam systems and give them a kick start on the future they will be leading. Participants had diverse backgrounds including electrical, mechanical, marine and offshore, and basically any engineering student. It equipped the participants with the necessary tools to build their skills and make their community a greener, more prosperous future. The event had more than 100 participants.

Cybersecurity Professional Skills Workshop
A two-day workshop with certificate was held in partnership with EG-CERT of NTRA. The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to effectively address contemporary cybersecurity challenges. Attracting a diverse audience of over 200 attendees from various sectors, including government, finance, and telecommunications, the event exemplified EG-CERT's dedication to fostering a robust cybersecurity framework across critical infrastructure.
Arduino Day Celebration Workshop 2023
The objective of the event was to educate new students about the significance of the Internet of Things (IoT) and home automation using Arduino. The day commenced with a presentation highlighting the importance of Arduino in our daily lives. The speaker then explained the differences between microcontrollers detailing the components of microcontrollers and categorizing them based on their bit architecture. Furthermore, the discussion covered external memory options to enhance microcontroller storage, as well as the distinctions between Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC) and Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC). The presentation also addressed the differences between Von Neumann and Harvard architectures, as well as various types of development boards. Participants learned how to build a robot and the appropriate components for each task, including different types of boards such as the Jetson Board and the AVR kit along with its applications. Following the informative sessions, students engaged in creating their own projects, and certificates were awarded to participants upon the conclusion of the event. The workshop had around 40 participants.

The Libraries & Information Services Center serves the AASTMT academic community in all its locations. With its 12 branch Libraries, The Library fulfills the academic and research needs of both students and teaching staff.
The Libraries & Information Services Center at AASTMT play a major role in supporting educational activities and enriching academic life. The Center serves the academics in Egypt, at Abu-Qir main campus in Alexandria, there is the Main Library, the Architecture Library, and the Maritime Library. AT Miami campus in Alexandria, there is the Management Library and the Graduate School of Business Library. At Sheraton campus in Cairo, there is the Engineering Library, the Graduate School of Business Library, and the Management & Logistics Library. At Dokki premises in Cairo, there is the Management & Logistics Library. There is one main library at Port Said Campus, at the Smart Village premises, at Wabour Elmaya premises, and at Ganoub Elwadi camps. There are libraries at Latakia - Syrian Arab Republic branch and Alamein branch.
All these libraries are interconnected through online interactive terminals, ensuring seamless access to the center's in-house database. To provide a high-quality information service, the Center has established an integrated information system that simplifies direct searches through a computerized catalog and electronic databases. Global Finale of IEEE-YESIST12-2023
The global finale of IEEE YESIST12 2023 took place on September 2nd and 3rd, 2023, at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria, Egypt. This event is part of an international initiative aimed at promoting social responsibility and ethical practices among young engineers through innovative projects that address humanitarian and social issues. The finale was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either physically or virtually. Participants included students and young professionals showcased their innovative ideas, contributing to the overall goal of fostering service-oriented engineering practices with more than 450 participants from more than 20 countries.
The Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth in cooperation (ECPC) 2023
The Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth (ECPC) 2023, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and supported by the Innovators and Geniuses Fund of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, concluded at the Arab Academy in Alexandria. This year’s competition saw participation from 96 colleges and institutes within the engineering and computer sectors, as well as various schools across Egypt. Over the course of two weeks, participants honed their skills in the Software and IT sector—an essential driver of economic development—aiming to establish their entrepreneurial ventures and shape the future of industry. The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Bill Poucher, President of the International ICPC Foundation for Programming Competitions for University Students.

MATE Regional ROV Competition 2023
The competition is designed to foster a new generation of Arab ROV builders, encouraging university and school students to engage in the design and construction of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) or underwater robots. Participants will compete to accomplish specific underwater missions, simulating real-world scenarios. The MATE Egypt ROV Regional Competition 2023, powered by the AAST Regional Informatics Center, took place from May 11 to 12, 2023. The establishment of the Regional Informatics Center (RIC) was inspired by the need to keep pace with advancements in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Competitive Programming. Its primary objective is to nurture the talents and intellects of students in the MENA region, fostering a distinguished cohort capable of meeting the rapid advancements in Informatics and Robotics on a global scale.

International Informatics Olympiad in Teams (IIOT - 2023)
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport - Port Said Branch proudly hosted the 6th International Olympiad in Informatics for Teams from May 26 to 30, 2023, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This year's international finals included participants from six countries: Italy, Romania, Hungary, Peru, Syria, and Egypt. IEEE Egyptian Student Paper Contest
The 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 (𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐂) is the perfect place for you to enhance your skills in researching and paper-writing, compete nationally for prizes, and qualify to the regional contest for even higher rewards! The event included workshops from professionals about researching, paper-writing, levels of education and their impact on your academic/industrial career, and how IEEE can help the participants in all that. The event had more than 200 participants.
Robocop Cup Egypt 2023
This initiative aims to create a robot soccer team that can defeat the human FIFA World Cup champion by 2050. RoboCup has established various soccer platforms for robotics research, including RoboCupJunior, which focuses on engaging primary and secondary students in educational robotic events. The Egypt Robotics Robocop Cup 2023, hosted by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and supported by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), involved 830 students. The competition included two categories: the Junior School Students Competition (February 14-17) and the University Students Competition Home (February 10-17).

The Regional Informatics Center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) offers online training for the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI). The EOI is a significant competition that focuses on computer algorithms, programming, and systematic problem-solving methods, covering a wide range of problem types. It primarily targets school students, serving as a platform to identify and nurture exceptional young talent in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
As part of its commitment to fostering talent and promoting computer science education, AASTMT provides a valuable online training resource for those interested in participating in the EOI. This initiative not only aids participants in their preparation for the Expression of Interest (EOI) but also aligns with the overarching objective of advancing computer science education and skill development among young students in Egypt. It exemplifies AASTMT's commitment to fostering educational excellence and offering valuable resources to the community, thereby facilitating the identification and cultivation of future leaders in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Robotak
The Robotak initiative represents a collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport. This initiative is national in scope and offers free participation. Its primary objective is to empower young individuals aged 7 to 17 by equipping them with essential 21st-century skills, including coding and robotics programming. The initiative began in early 2020, coinciding with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project employs a blend of online and offline methodologies to deliver its services. Online resources are accessible through a YouTube channel managed by an AASTMT instructor, featuring both pre-recorded and live sessions.
In-person instruction is provided through immersive, all-day boot camps, each lasting four days. A total of six camps have been established in the cities of Tenth of Ramadan, Aswan, Beni Suef, El Arish, and Alexandria.
To date, the initiative has garnered over 32,600 subscribers, spanning all governorates in Egypt, as well as participation from Egyptians residing in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The project currently comprises two levels, each further divided into two parts based on participants' ages, with development underway for a third level. The overarching goal of the Robotak initiative is to teach school students programming, robotics, 21st-century skills, and artificial intelligence.
