    ​​​​​​​Medical Convoy (Dabaa Hospital)

    As part of its commitment to public health, community engagement, and healthcare access, the college of Medicine and the College of Clinical Pharmacy at AASTMT (Alamein Campus), in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Matrouh Governorate, organized a comprehensive medical convoy to support Al-Dabaa Hospital on December 26, 2024.

    The initiative mobilized a team of expert physicians across seven medical specialties—Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, and Obstetrics & Gynecology—providing free medical consultations to 267 patients in underserved areas.

    Pharmacy internship students actively contributed by dispensing essential medications, gaining hands-on experience in clinical practice and community service. Special thanks are extended to Vitabiotics Pharmaceuticals, the Pharmacists Syndicate in Alexandria, and Medizen Pharmaceutical Industries for their generous support in supplying the required medications.

    Medical Convoy in participation with Mowasah Hospital

    In alignment with AASTMT’s commitment to community health, healthcare equity, and student engagement, the MowasaH Hospital Patients’ Care Association organized its annual medical convoy in 7th of December 2024 to Ezbet Ali in Al-Tarah, Kafr El-Dawar. The initiative aimed to provide free medical services, health education, and preventive care to underserved populations.

    Under the supervision of Dr. Dina Mahdy, Lecturer of Pharmaceutics, a dedicated group of 4th- and 5th-year students from the College of Pharmacy actively participated in the convoy. Their contributions included dispensing essential medications, assisting in clinical services, and delivering health awareness sessions to local residents.

    The convoy offered comprehensive medical examinations across multiple specialties and distributed medications free of charge to patients in need. It also emphasized preventive health strategies and community empowerment through education.

    This impactful initiative was made possible through the generous support of the Rotary Club of El-Yacht, Alexandria Pharmacists’ Syndicate, and pharmaceutical partners including Pharounia, Vitabiotics, Global Nabi, and Pharco.

    Hammam city medical convoy

    DEC 26, 2024, In partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the College of Pharmacy and the College of Medicine at AASTMT – Alamein Campus participated in a community-based medical convoy to El-Hamam City, aimed at improving access to healthcare for underserved populations.

    Supervised by Prof. Evan Ibrahim Saad (Dean of the College of Pharmacy), Prof. Amal Galal Omar (Vice Dean for Student Affairs), and Assistant Lecturer Omnia Ali, pharmacy students played a vital role in dispensing prescribed medications and offering patient counseling on proper medication use. This hands-on experience enhanced their clinical skills, while contributing meaningfully to public health promotion and health literacy

    AASTMT College of Pharmacy Alamein Campus Launches First Aid Campaign to Advance Education Aligned with the SDGs

    As part of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport’s commitment to integrating sustainability into higher education, the College of Pharmacy at the Alamein Campus has implemented an innovative initiative through its First Aid course.

    The initiative included the launch of a First Aid Campaign, where pharmacy students had the opportunity to practice their skills in real-life scenarios while demonstrating them to fellow students across the campus. The campaign aimed to raise health awareness, strengthen campus safety, and foster a culture of social responsibility and student empowerment.

    By extending the impact beyond pharmacy students to include the entire student community, this initiative reflects the Academy’s dedication to providing meaningful and practical education that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly those related to improving health, promoting safe and inclusive learning environments, and optimizing the use of educational resources.

    Eating Disorders and Diabetes Awareness during Ramadan

    In December 2023,  AASTMT College of Medicine organized a Campaign focused on fasting and its impact on diabetic patients, promoting safe practices and awareness.

    Healthy and Affordable Food Options on Campus

    AASTMT supports student nutrition through a comprehensive and inclusive approach. The university provides subsidized meals at discounted rates of 5%–30% through on-campus outlets like the Brazilian Coffee Restaurant, ensuring affordability and accessibility. Students on full scholarships receive free meals, reinforcing equity in nutritional support. Menus are designed to be balanced and health-conscious, featuring fresh vegetables, lean proteins, low-fat dairy, and whole grains, with accommodations for vegan, vegetarian, and allergen-sensitive diets. The “Nourishing Hope” food redistribution program minimizes waste by reallocating surplus food to those in need, while nutrition education sessions empower students with knowledge about healthy eating and its impact on academic performance and physical well-being.      Medical convoy to El-Hamam city

    Healthcare accessibility remains a critical issue in our community. In a significant community outreach initiative, the College of Medicine and the College of Pharmacy have joined forces to launch a medical convoy aimed at providing essential healthcare services to underserved areas of the community. The convoy, staffed by faculty members and students from both colleges took place in El-Hamam city ( easternmost city in Matrouh Governorate) . It offered free health screenings, medical consultations, and medication dispensing (Provided by the pharmacists’ syndicate in Alexandria). Additionally, pharmacy students were available to review medications and provide advice on proper medication management.

    Through similar approaches, we aim to reach out to those who are most in need. The event took place between 15th and 16th of May 2024.

    Healthcare Convoy and Ramadan Charity Reach Out to Al-Alamein Community

    Under the framework of a cooperation protocol between the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and the Subsidiary Physicians Syndicate of Alexandria, and with the support of Professor Dr. Mohamed Hisham Abdel Monem (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine), Professor Dr. Abdel Monem Fawzy (Syndicate of Physicians in Alexandria), and Dr. Dar El Salam Hussein (Director of the Social Solidarity Directorate in Marsa Matrouh), AASTMT organized its first medical convoy to Old Alamein City.

    This initiative aimed to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved communities and involved a multidisciplinary team of physicians from various specialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, dermatology, and ophthalmology. The convoy provided free medical examinations to a total of 276 patients, including:71 pediatric cases, 40 dermatological cases, 91 ophthalmological cases, 65 internal medicine cases, 9 surgical cases. In addition to medical services, the Academy distributed Ramadan aid, including 75 food bags, 100 kilograms of dates, and Zakat funds to 65 citizens, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and inclusive support systems.

    AASTMT College of Medicine Advances SDG Impact Through Student-Led Scientific Conference

    On 17 February 2024, the College of Medicine at AASTMT hosted its 2nd Students’ Scientific Conference under the theme “Gut: A Mirror in Health and Disease.” This student-led initiative, organized entirely by second-year medical students, reflects AASTMT’s commitment to health innovation. The event featured: Research-driven presentations and scientific posters on gastrointestinal health. Professional event management by students, including registration, media, and program coordination.

    A platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and networking, fostering future-ready healthcare professionals. Held at New El Alamein campus, the conference underscores AASTMT’s role as a regional hub for medical education and research, setting a benchmark for student empowerment and academic excellence aligned with global sustainability goals.

    The safety of eating fesikh.

    On May 6, 2024, students Dina Khamis, Laila Fawzy, and Christine George from the College of Pharmacy at AASTMT proudly represented their institution on National TV in a special episode focused on the safety of consuming “Fesikh” during Sham El-Nessim.

    During the episode, they discussed the health risks of improperly prepared fesikh, such as food poisoning and botulism, and emphasized the importance of buying from licensed and trusted sources.

    This outstanding appearance highlights their strong commitment to raising public awareness and their vital role as future pharmacists in promoting community health and safety.

    AASTMT and Addiction control and treatment fund awareness program on drug abuse and addiction

    In alignment with the National Strategy for Combating Drugs and Mitigating Abuse and Addiction for the period of 2024 to 2028, the government has reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable development and safeguarding future generations through the initiation of a comprehensive program by the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund. In partnership with the Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), this initiative aims to educate 29,000 male and female students about the perils associated with drug abuse and addiction. This effort underscores the state’s commitment to shielding youth from the threats of addiction while enhancing public understanding of the significance of prevention and treatment.

    The launch event featured notable attendees, including H.E. Dr. Amr Othman, Director of the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of AASTMT, along with AASTMT officials, who collectively signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement encompasses several essential components, including the development of innovative awareness campaigns and specialized training programs designed to prepare personnel engaged in addiction prevention and treatment. In addition to these awareness initiatives aimed at countering misconceptions regarding drugs and their detrimental effects, a sports marathon titled "You are stronger than drugs" is also set to take place, featuring a range of sports activities and games.

    To raise awareness about healthy nutrition to prevent diabetes

    On November 24, 2024, an impactful event was held to raise awareness about the growing global challenge of diabetes and its connection to lifestyle choices. Diabetes, a chronic condition affecting millions worldwide, arises when the body struggles to regulate blood sugar levels effectively. One of the most significant contributors to its onset is poor nutrition—diets high in sugar, processed foods, and unhealthy fats not only increase the risk of diabetes but also contribute to other serious health issues such as heart disease and obesity.In addition to nutrition, the event highlighted the role of regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight in preventing diabetes. These lifestyle changes are essential not only for individual well-being but also for reducing the burden on healthcare systems.

    AAST College of Medicine Hosts Asdaa Association in Grand Finale of Pioneering Sign Language Elective Course

    On 22nd of  March 2025, College of Medicine Arab Academy for science, technology and Maritime Transport hosted members of the "Asdaa" Association for the Hard of Hearing and Deaf in Alexandria. The event marked the grand finale of the faculty's first-ever Sign Language Elective Course, designed to equip future doctors with the skills for direct communication with deaf and hard-of-hearing patients without the need for an interpreter. This event achieved numerous goals like fostering effective communication and mutual understanding between young members of the deaf community and the Academy's future doctors. Mr. Jameel emphasized that the doctors' desire to learn sign language will significantly contribute to effective communication for healthcare providers serving deaf patients soon.

    The risks of excessive use of antibiotics

    On December 21, 2023,Students of College of Pharmacy – AASTMT (Alamein Campus) participated in the awareness forum held at Alamein International University, addressing the crucial topic of the risks of excessive use of antibiotics.

    Through their contribution, our students highlighted the importance of responsible antibiotic use, the dangers of antimicrobial resistance, and the pharmacist’s role in promoting public health awareness.

    Supporting burn patients in unprivileged communities

    Within the framework of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport’s keenness to play its role towards social responsibility, the deans of student affairs for the academy’s branches in Heliopolis and Smart Village and a group of its students from various faculties visited Ahl Masr Hospital for burn treatment, free of charge, and supported our heroes with burns, and they also donated to equip the hospital in support for burns issue.

    Support Services and Facilities for People with Disabilities at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology

    The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport is making continuous efforts to enable students with disabilities to easily access the campus and there are ongoing efforts to provide an inclusive university environment that is accessible to everyone by providing support and facilities to students with disabilities to ensure their access to the campus and benefit from educational opportunities to the same extent such as other students.

    AASTMT offers professional support to those experiencing emotional, psychological or mental health issues. Welfare, Disabilities Advisers, and Counselling and Mental Health staff are all part of the Health and Wellbeing team and work closely to support students with severe and enduring or complex mental health difficulties defined as a disability.

    Academy provides appropriate housing services for students with special needs. Students with special needs can receive financial assistance for disability, which is divided into two categories: the first category includes students with severe disabilities, and the second category includes students with moderate disabilities. The appropriate category for the student is determined by filling out a special form in the Special Needs Center in the Student Affairs Department.

    AASTMT student have participated in the national initiative “100 days of health”. Students roamed the streets of Port-Said/Port-Fouad to spread awareness about the risks of breast cancer, and chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

    Medical Convoys

    Students volunteering programs for oral health promotion 

    The Department of Public Health at the College of Dentistry, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), organized educational seminars for patients and their children. The seminars focused on the importance of oral hygiene and the long-term effects of neglecting dental care, as well as how different types of food can impact on oral health. Many patients of all ages attended and interacted with our students, who helped make the information more accessible by using models that simulate the structure of teeth.

    Health education and service convoys to underserved areas 

    AASTMT participation in Medical Convoys was held by the Ministry of Health in Alexandria governorate during the period from March to July 2023. 130 students from the college of medicine actively participated in medical convoys held in 9 villages in remote areas in Alexandria governorate. They assist physicians in providing curative services and provide health education messages to attendees.

    Faculty of Medicine Students Attend Gastro Egypt Conference on Gastrointestinal and Liver Health 18-Oct-23. Students from the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport participated in the Gastro Egypt Conference.

    The conference focused on topics related to gastrointestinal and liver health. It was held at the Regal Heights Hotel on Thursday, October 19th.

    In recognition of AASTMT important role of raising awareness and community service, different events and medical convoys have been sent to rural places in the aim of helping the local community of having a better health and health education.

    AASTMT student have participated in the national initiative “100 days of health”. Students roamed the streets of Port-Said/Port-Fouad to spread awareness about the risks of breast cancer, and chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

    Medical Convoys

    • AASTMT participation in Medical Convoys held by the Ministry of Health in Alexandria governorate during the period from March to July 2023. 130 students from the college of medicine actively participated in medical convoys held in 9 villages in remote areas in Alexandria governorate. They assist physicians in providing curative services and provide health education messages to attendees.
