Basics of Nanocosmeceuticals (3 Cr. hr)

Description

This course highlights the recent advancement and potential role of nanotechnology in cosmeceuticals over conventional products by overcoming the major limiting factors in the penetration as well as absorption of active ingredients inside the skin layers due to the skin barrier function. The course will also provide full knowledge on various nanocarriers used in the delivery of cosmeceutical formulations including the currently available nanotechnology based cosmetics and personal care products on the market. The advantages of incorporating natural products, advanced cosmetic ingredients (including bioactive peptides, growth factors, stem cells) in nanoformulations will be discussed. Furthermore, regulations of the use of nanomaterials in cosmetics and challenges associated with the use of these nanosystems will be addressed.
